In today’s busy lifestyle, we try to do so many things at once but neglect our health, and doing physical exercise is something which often takes a backseat on our everyday routine. Our work, commitments, stress, anger and lack of time all come in the way when we try to focus on our health but we all know the truth that a sedentary lifestyle is the root cause of some major health issues and diseases. Doing regular exercise not only keeps you fit and healthy but also increases your lifespan and reduces risk of some health hazard like obesity, diabetes and cardiac problems. Along with proper physical exercise we must follow a proper work-out diet which includes Pre and Post workout food

What is Pre Workout food?

We all want to get all the benefits of a workout and pre workout food helps in that. Pre workout food boosts our body with carbohydrates and essential vitamins and minerals which provide energy and stamina for workout. Missing this meal means cutting of the source of energy which will affect the body during the workout and decrease the intensity of workout due to lack of stamina. Some of the best pre workout food are- Greek yogurt, Oats, Banana smoothie, Dry fruits (Almond, Raisins and Walnut), Peanut butter, Muesli and Milk, Coconut water etc. All these food items are rich sources of vitamins and carbohydrates which will maintain the energy and insulin level during the workout.

What is Post Workout food? It is very important to eat the right nutrients after doing any physical activity because after any workout our body is depleted of glycogen as all the muscles uses the stored glycogen in our body as fuels and some proteins are also broken down during this. Hence, to regain glycogen and rebuild muscle proteins our body requires a good source of protein and carbohydrate which we get from the post workout food. Some of the best post workout food are- Eggs, Chicken, Cheese, Salmon (or any other sea fish), Herbal tea, Sweet potato, Protein shake, Quinoa etc. All these food items are rich in proteins which will help in growth of lean muscles and replenish the stored glycogen in our body.
